About Us

Welcome to  Carver Homeschool Meetups Community!

We are closed, member only group that focuses more on social time mixed with learning. Our mission is to build a homeschool community where families come together to socialize, learn, and share resources, a place where families can learn, connect, and grow. Our group is built on mutual support. While we welcome everyone, our group may be best suited for families who are respectful of each other’s beliefs and who support medical freedom.

We are here to connect homeschooling families together in a way that mixes learning with fun. We believe that learning isn’t just in books, it happens all around us, through the people we meet, the moments we share, and the adventures we take together. Like Craig Harper said, “The world is my classroom, each day is a new lesson, and every person I meet is my teacher.”

  • Monthly Meet-Ups.

We meet on the third Friday of each month at the local library and enjoy outdoor activities when the weather is nice. We try to use a different theme each month, and we always need volunteers to lead the meetup. If circumstances change, the monthly meetup time/ place may need to be adjusted.

We use our Facebook group, Carver Homeschool Meet‑Ups, and our group email, Carver Homeschool Meet‑Ups, as our main forms of communication. We also use the free version of Webador for our year‑end plan and newsletter.

  • Participation.

Our group is led by volunteer parents, and we encourage each family to actively participate whether by leading a meetup, helping with cleanup, providing supplies, helping with the birthday celebrations or supporting in other ways. We would love for tweens and teens to get involved too with adult supervision.

  • Kids Birthday Group.

We celebrate our children's birthdays during our monthly meetups, which we call the 'Birthday Special.' We sing Happy Birthday together, sign a birthday card, and the birthday kids receive a small gift from us. Families of the birthday kids are welcome to bring a special treat to share with others. The group agreed on a gift cost of up to $15, to reuse gift bags whenever possible, and to celebrate July and August kids' birthdays in June.

Birthday Celebrations volunteer/s will be selected each month by drawing. The volunteer/s will help announce the birthday kids, lead the birthday song, prepare the small gift (please keep the receipt so it can be reimbursed), and remind others to sign the birthday cards. Thank you for supporting our Birthday Special and helping make each celebration meaningful.

  • Monthly Contributions.

We ask for a yearly donation of $50 per family, regardless of attendance or start date  to help cover birthday gifts, supplies, materials and other group's needs as they come up. We welcome new families throughout the year and follow an annual cycle. The cycle runs from September of the current year through June of the following year.

  • Events, Programs and Community Sharing.

Between our monthly meetups, families are encouraged to share programs or events from local resources. In addition, we’re offering opportunities for families to host their own programs, lessons, or gatherings at a location of their choice, with or without a fee. And any fees go directly to the hosting family, not to the Carver Homeschool Meet-Ups. Ideas may include crochet, knitting, or sewing workshops, foreign language sessions, STEM activities, pool parties, and more. We’re also seeking partnerships with local organizations that offer academic programs, such as open gym, workshops etc.

  • We are part of the HSLDA Homeschool Group Discount program.

Our group discount group number is 305087 and it provides a $15 savings on your HSLDA annual membership. HSLDA stands for the Home School Legal Defense Association. It's a nonprofit advocacy organization based in the United States that supports and defends the rights of families to homeschool their children. https://hslda.org/

Group Rules:

  • United we stand; divided we fall

We simply ask that everyone treat each other with respect regardless of our differences. Differences don’t have to lead to tension, debate, or conflict. Instead, we embrace those differences as a way to unite and strengthen the connections we build in our homeschooling journeys.

  • Sharing is caring

Everyone is welcome to bring a snack or drink to share during meetups. If you're bringing homemade items, please write down the ingredients. For store‑bought items, kindly keep the packaging nearby. This helps ensure that families can avoid ingredients their children may be allergic to. Carver Homeschool Meet-Ups will do its best to provide a case of water bottles whenever possible. We appreciate your cooperation.

  • Say cheese but ask first, please!

We love capturing memories and may share a group photo from each meetup on social media. If you prefer not to be photographed or have your child included, just let us know, we’ll respect your wishes. Please be mindful when posting and avoid tagging others without permission. Posting photos in the FB group, sending them through the group email, or sharing them in the group text means you are giving permission for the Carver Homeschool Meet‑Ups group and its members to use and share the images, including on members’ social media.

  • Same in, same out

Parents are expected to stay with their children during the meetup and are responsible for their own children and belongings. The Carver Homeschool Meet-Ups is not liable for lost items or accidents. Let’s all work together to keep the meetup space whether it’s a library room, outdoor area, or other public facility tidy and leave it just as we found it.
